Barladul

 

(Bîrlad), river in Rumania, left tributary of the Siretu River. The Barladul is 250 km long; its basin area is 7,600 sq km. It originates as several small streams in the western Barladul plateau and flows primarily through the Moldova highland. In the spring it floods, and in the summer it drops to a low level, even to the point of drying up. It is used for irrigation; there are mill facilities. On the Barladul are the cities of Vaslui, Barladul, and Tecuci.
