Navashino
a city and administrative center of Navashino Raion, Gorky Oblast, RSFSR. Located on the right bank of the Oka River. A station on the Moscow-Kazan railroad line, 160 km southwest of Gorky. Population, 16,700 (1973). A shipbuilding yard operates on the Okskii backwater, and a construction materials plant is located in the city. An evening technicum for ship engineering is in Navashino. The city was formed in 1957 from the settlements of Mordovshchikovo and Lipnia.
