the smallest upright pianoforte. The first models appeared in the 1930’s in Europe and the United States. The minipiano is 1,200–1,250 mm long, 825–900 mm high, and 390–400 mm wide; it weighs 120–125 kg. The instrument has a compass of 6 or 6 1/2 octaves. Its special features are its shortened strings and keys and the placing of the mechanics under the keyboard.
