Diptan, Ol’ga Kliment’evna

 

Born Nov. 29 (Dec. 12), 1912, in the village of Kodaki, present-day Vasil’kov Raion, Kiev Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. Innovator in kolkhoz production; team leader at the Il’ich Kolkhoz in Vasil’kov Raion, Kiev Oblast. Twice Hero of Socialist Labor (1954 and 1958). Member of the CPSU since 1948.

Since 1929, Diptan has led a team growing sugar beets. The yield of sugar beets (in centners per hectare [ha]) achieved by her team was 606 in 1953 (5.8 ha), 611 in 1957 (7.7 ha), and 604 in 1968 (6.0 ha). She has been a deputy to the fifth through eighth convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR, a delegate to the Twenty-first through Twenty-third Congresses of the CPSU, and a participant in the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition (1954-58) and the Exhibition of the Achievements of the National Economy of the USSR (1963). Diptan has been awarded two orders of Lenin, an order of the Red Banner of Labor, and various medals.
