BACH1 BACH1 A gene on chromosome 21q22.11 that encodes a transcription factor of the “cap and collar” basic-region leucine zipper factor family (CNC-bZip), which contains broad, complex, tramtrack, bric-a-brac/poxvirus and zinc finger (BTB/POZ) domains that facilitate protein-protein interactions and formation of homo- and/or hetero-oligomers. When BACH1 forms a heterodimer with MafK, it represses Maf recognition element (MARE) transcription. |
