NHS University

NHS University

A UK learning body originally proposed in 2001 by Labour in the lead-up to the general election, and launched in late 2003 as a special health authority (non-departmental public body). The NHSU aimed to improve NHS staff training by providing opportunities for learning in high quality learning environments, leading research into future learning needs. In mid-2004, the Department of Health published "Reconfiguring the Department of Health's arm's length bodies", and the NHSU was one of the Special Health Authorities selected to be disbanded.
