Kusary Plain

 

or Kuba Plain, a plain in northern Azerbaijan SSR. Elevation, 28–600 m. It is composed of quarternary marine and continental conglomerates, pebbles, clays, and loams. The climate is moderately warm (average July temperature, 20–25°C; January, 0°-3°C); annual precipitation, 200–400 mm. The Kusarchai, Kudialchai, and Karachai flow through the plain. The valley forests and meadows grow on forest and meadow soils; there are oak forests with lianas; the steppes have arid sparse forests of oak, oriental hornbeam, and Christ’s-thorn on brown soils. The Samur-Apsheron Canal crosses the plain. Fruit, vegetables, and grain crops are raised.
