Bad Schandau


Bad Schandau

 

a city in the German Democratic Republic, in Dresden District, near Pirna, on the border with Czechoslovakia. It is located on the Elbe River at the confluence of the Elbe and Kirnitsch rivers, in so-called Saxonian Switzerland. Its population is about 5,000. With the discovery of ferriferous springs in 1730, Bad Schandau gradually became a well-known balneological health resort. It is a center for tourists and has a museum and botanical garden.
