Kurama

a mountain range in western Tien-Shan on the border of the Tadzhik SSR and the Uzbek SSR. In the northwest, the Kurama Range borders the Fergana Valley. It serves as a watershed for the Angren and Syr Darya basins. The range is approximately 170 km in length and attains an altitude of 3,769 m (Mount Boboiob). It is formed from metamorphic schists, sandstones, and granites. The lower slopes of the range are covered with wormwood and wheatgrasses; higher up are xerophytic shrubs, walnut trees (on the northern slope), juniper stands, and fescue grass steppes.
