Kurakhovo

a city in Mar’inka Raion, Donetsk Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. Located on the bank of the Volch’ia River (Dnieper basin), 5 km from the Roia railroad station of the Krasnoarmeisk-Rutchenkovo line. Population, 16,000 (1970). Kurakhovo has a state regional electric power plant. Industry consists of a mechanical boiler plant, plants manufacturing prefabricated reinforced concrete and mineral batting, a construction plant, a bakery, and a cannery. Technical training centers include branches of the Zuevka Technicum of Energetics, an evening school, and of the All-Union Technicum of Power Construction.
