Luby, Štefan
Born Jan. 5, 1910, in Liptovský Hrádok, Czechoslovakia. Czechoslovakian jurist; member of the Czechoslovak and Slovak Academy of Sciences (1968).
In 1934, Luby graduated from the law school in Bratislava. He was a professor of civil and family law in the law school of J. A. Komensky University in Bratislava (1934-59). Luby was one of the founders of the Socialist Academy (1948). He has written numerous works on problems of various branches of law, comparative jurisprudence, and Soviet law, including History of Private Law in Slovakia (1946), Principles of Universal Private Law (1947), Civil Law of the USSR (2 vols., 1952), Law of Obligations (1953), and Copyright Law (1962). Luby has won the National Prize (1947), and awards and gold medals of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences.
