[mə′nis·kəs ′shmit ′tel·ə‚skōp] (optics) A variant of the Schmidt system in which the corrector plate is replaced by a weaker corrector plate followed by a meniscus lens. Also known as Maksutov-Schmidt telescope; Schmidt-Maksutov telescope.
