meniscus lens

(mĕ-niss -kŭs) A lens in which the two surfaces have different or sometimes equal curvatures but, unlike a concave or convex lens, curve in the same general direction. A positive meniscus is thicker at the center than at the edges; a negative meniscus is thinner at the center. See illustration at lens.
