Kungasalakh

 

a lake in the eastern part of Taimyr Peninsula in Taimyr (Dolgano-Nenets) National Okrug, Krasnoiarsk Krai, RSFSR. Area, 270 sq km. The lake is fed by rain and snow. It freezes over in September and thaws in June. It is connected by a channel to Lake Arytakh (66.9 sq km), whose source is the Novaia River (Laptev basin). The lake has an abundance of fish, including the loach Nemachilus barbatula, whitefish, and muksun (Coregonus muksun). The shores are nesting grounds for geese, ducks, loons, and other birds.
