Kuhsiangtun

Kuhsiangt’un

a site where fossils and implements of the Mesolithic age were found (near Harbin in the Chinese People’s Republic). It was discovered in 1926 and excavated in 1931–34. More than 10,000 bones of animals of the late Pleistocene epoch were found, among them the mammoth, the woolly rhinoceros, the bison, the elk, the antelope, the tiger, and the ostrich. Some of the bones had been made into chisels and awls. Stone implements were also found (round scrapers, knives, and chipped plates), similar to the later microlithic implements found in the Gobi Desert.
