Menglet, Georgii Pavlovich
Born Sept. 4 (17), 1912, in Voronezh. Soviet Russian actor. People’s Artist of the USSR (1974). Member of the CPSU since 1975.
After graduating from the Central Technicum of Theatrical Arts (now the State Institute of Theatrical Arts) in 1933, Menglet performed at the theater-studio directed by A. D. Dikii, the M. Gorky Leningrad Academic Bolshoi Drama Theater, and the Dushanbe Russian Theater. He joined the Moscow Theater of Satire in 1945. His roles have included Sergei in an adaptation of Leskov’s Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk District, Georges Duroy in Maupassant’s Bel-ami, Oleg Baian and Pobedonosikov in Mayakovsky’s The Bedbug and The Bathhouse, Captain Shot-over in Shaw’s Heartbreak House, Pishtajn D’iarfash’s Wake Up and Sing, and Karavai in Makaenok’s Pill Under the Tongue.
Menglet received the K. S. Stanislavsky State Prize of the RSFSR in 1977 and has been awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor and various medals.
