Mark Braga

Braga, Mark Andronovich

 

Born Feb. 4 (17), 1910, in the village of Malyi Klin in modern Kherson Oblast. Agricultural innovator and combine operator for the Rossia Kolkhoz in Golaia Pristan’ Raion, Kherson Oblast, Ukrainian SSR (beginning in 1958). Twice named a Hero of Socialist Labor (1949 and 1958).

Braga has been a member of the CPSU since 1951. From 1937 to 1958 he was a combine operator at the Bekhter Machine Tractor Station. In 1948, using the S-1 combine he harvested and threshed 8,844 centners of grain crops and 1,161 centners of oil-producing crops during 25 work days. In 1967, Braga harvested 673 hectares of grain crops and threshed 1,846 centners of grain. He was a delegate to the nineteenth and twenty-second congresses of the CPSU. Braga has been awarded five Orders of Lenin, medals of the USSR, two large gold medals, and other medals at the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition.
