Location:In western Illinois, in Hancock County, on the south edge of Nauvoo, along IL 96.
Facilities:150 Class A and B campsites, youth group camping area, 2 picnic andplayground areas, 2 shelter houses (1 with modern toilet facilities),ball diamond, hiking trails (é), boat launch (primitive), naturepreserve, museum.
Activities:Camping, boating (electric motors only), canoeing, fishing, picnicking, hiking, sledding, cross-country skiing.
Special Features:When Mormons (including LDS founder Joseph Smith) settled in theHancock County community of Commerce City in 1839, they changed itsname to "Nauvoo," a Hebrew word for "pleasant land." A house built byMormons in the 1840s serves as the Nauvoo State Park Museum.
