Krylovich, Vladimir Nikolaevich
Born Oct. 20 (Nov. 1), 1895, in the village of Krylovichi, now in Dzerzhinsk Raion, Minsk Oblast; died Oct. 23, 1937, in Minsk. Soviet Byelorussian actor. Honored Artist of the Byelorussian SSR (1931). A founder of the Soviet Byelorussian theater.
Krylovich began acting in amateur theater groups in 1915. In 1921 he joined the la. Kupala Byelorussian Theater in Minsk. He performed in both national and Soviet Russian dramas, bringing romantic coloration to many of his roles. He combined a colorful temperament with gentleness and lyricism. His best roles included Krinitskii in Pavlinka by Kupala, the title roles in Masheka and Kastus’ Kalinovskii by Mirovich, Vershinin in Armored Train No. 14–69 by Ivanov, Chuzhakov in The Bridge by Romanovich, and Berest in Platon Krechet by Korneichuk. Krylovich also appeared in motion pictures.
