Special Features:Monte Sano's mountaintop retreat combines the history of the 1930sCivilian Conservation Corps building projects with the technology ofthe modern Space and Rocket Center city of Huntsville. The lodgeoriginally built by the CCC and destroyed by fire in 1947 has beenreconstructed, restoring the facility's beauty while also modernizingit and keeping its original intent available to the public. Otherdevelopments of the CCC that are still in use include 11 stone cabins,the picnic area and pavilions, and an amphitheatre.
