释义 | Nock, Arthur DarbyNock, Arthur Darby(1902–63) classicist; born in Portsmouth, England. He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge (B.A. 1922; M.A. 1926) and the University of Birmingham (L.L.D. 1934). He taught at Harvard (1929–63) and became an American citizen in 1936. Charmingly eccentric even in a world of eccentrics, he is best remembered for his books Conversion (1933), Saint Paul (1938), and many articles on ancient religion. He was editor of the Oxford Classical Dictionary (1949) and a contributor to the Cambridge Ancient History. |
