o·lec·ra·non fos·sa [TA] a hollow on the dorsum of the distal end of the humerus, just above the trochlea, in which the olecranon process of the ulna rests when the elbow is extended. Synonym(s): fossa olecrani [TA], anconal fossaolecranon fossa On the posterior surface of the lower end of the humerus, a depression proximal to the trochlea and between the medial and lateral epicondyles; it is analogous to the coronoid fossa on the opposite side of the humerus.
