Nautical Tables

a collection of tables of various quantities required for solving problems in navigation and nautical astronomy. Such a collection contains various detailed tables, including tables giving such data as the distance of the apparent (radar) horizon at sea from different heights, values of velocity in different systems of units, and azimuths of the true sunrise and sunset. Nautical tables are used to calculate altitudes and azimuths of celestial bodies and geographic coordinates and to determine the distances traversed by a ship or acoustic signal. Nautical tables include mathematical tables (with five-place tables of trigonometric functions and logarithms of numbers), astronomical tables (constants), and navigational and reference tables.
