Naushahr

(also Nowshahr), a city in Iran, in the province of Mazanderan. Population, 10,000 (1971). The city has a port on the Caspian Sea. Food processing and the wood products and textile industries are important. The city is also the center of an agricultural region (rice, tea, citrus fruits, and silk).
