(in Ukrainian, Vyzvolennia Vitchyzny), an underground antifascist group that operated from October 1942 through July 1944 in Gliniany and Peremyshliany raions of L’vov Oblast, which were occupied by the fascist German troops. The Liberation of the Fatherland was organized by the Communists V. la. Dorozhko and I. F. Golovchenko. The group had 48 members. Its tasks were formulated in a program and included conducting antifascist propaganda, unmasking the treasonable role of the Ukrainian bourgeous nationalists, and mobilizing the working people for the partisan struggle against the fascist German occupiers and their hirelings. The Liberation of the Fatherland published about 10,000 leaflets, appeals, and articles and disseminated them in L’vov and in Gliniany, Zolochev, and Peremyshliany raions. It also conducted combat operations against the occupiers. The group was linked with the L’vov underground organization People’s Guard (Narodnaia gvardiia).
