Krasnyi Luch
(formerly Krindachevka), a city in Voroshilovgrad Oblast, Ukrainian SSR (Donbas), 62 km from Voroshilovgrad. Terminal station of a branch line of the Debal’tsevo-Zapovednaia railroad line; population, 103,000 (1972). The city is an important center for the coal industry. There are plants for machine building, automotive repair, and ore-mining machinery repair; two plants producing reinforced-concrete structures, a furniture factory, and a garment factory are also located in the city. The general engineering department of the Kommunarsk Mining and Metallurgical Institute and a mining technicum are in Krasnyi Luch. Nearby is the Shterovka State Regional Electric Power Plant. Krasnyi Luch was founded in the late 19th century and became a city in 1926.
