Krasnoiarsk, University of
founded in 1969, developing out of the Krasnoiarsk branch of the University of Novosibirsk. Academician L. V. Kirenskii was active in the founding of both the Krasnoiarsk branch and the university. The university has mathematics, physics, biology and chemistry, and law departments, evening and correspondence departments, and a postgraduate school. There are 22 subdepartments, a computer laboratory, a biology station, a biology museum, and a library with about 100,000 volumes. In the 1972–73 academic year the university had more than 2,500 students and 160 instructors, including ten doctors of science and professors and 68 docents and candidates of science.
