Krasnaia Niva
(Red Cornfield), a literary illustrated weekly journal. It was published by the Izvestiia VTsIK Publishing House (Moscow) from 1923 to 1931 under the editorship of A. V. Lunacharskii, lu. M. Steklov, and others. The journal primarily published small works—that is, verse, short stories, essays, and excerpts from novels and novellas. Writers published in the Journal included A. N. Tolstoi, M. A. Sholokhov, F. V. Gladkov, M. M. Prishvin, V. la. Shishkov, V. V. Ivanov, A. Grin, K. A. Fedin, M. S. Shaginian, V. V. Mayakovsky, S. A. Esenin, E. G. Bagritskii, M. P. Gerasimov, and V. D. Aleksandrovskii. It carried translations of excerpts from novels by R. Rolland and H. Wells and short stories by H. Barbusse and M. Zalka.
