Krasicki, Jan
(pseudonym, Kazik). Born Sept. 18, 1919, in Limanowa, Kraków Województwo; died Sept. 2, 1943, in Warsaw. Active in the Polish workers’ movement.
Krasicki studied at the law faculty of the University of Warsaw from 1937 to 1939. During World War II he lived in the USSR from 1939 to 1942. In May 1942, Krasicki and a group of Polish Communists crossed the line of the Soviet-German front into Poland. He joined the Polish Workers’ Party (PWP) in 1942, subsequently becoming a member of the Warsaw Committeeof the PWP and chairman of the antifascist organization Union of Struggle of the Young (in March 1943). A prominent member of the Gwardia Ludowa, he was arrested by the Gestapo on Sept. 2, 1943, and killed while attempting to escape.
