Lhermitte-McAlpine syndrome

Lhermitte-McAlpine syndrome

An obsolete term for a condition characterised by combined pyramidal and extrapyramidal degeneration. The signs and symptoms of this condition are highly nonspecific, and may not be a disease a sui generis; many cases so designated may in fact have corresponded to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, encephalitis, Parkinson’s disease and others.
