Established: 1969.
Location:On New Brunswick's central eastern shore in an area known as the Acadian Coastal Drive. It is located in Kent County, a one-hour drive north of Moncton or a four-hour drive from the Quebec border. Take Highway 15 to Shediac and then either Highway 11 heading north, or the more scenic Route 134.
Facilities:Visitor center, frontcountry and backcountry campgrounds, group tenting area, nature trails, cycling paths (60 km), beaches and beach boardwalks, bicycle and boat rentals.
Activities:Camping, hiking, bicycling, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boating, bird watching, wildlife viewing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, tobogganing, interpretive programs.
Special Features:Park protect a unique ecosystem of sandy barrier islands on the Northumberland Strait, characterized by lagoons, bogs, salt marshes, beaches, dunes, and tall forests, and set on Canada's warmest ocean waters. Park features the second largest tern colony in North America. The Voyageur Canoe Program offers visitors the opportunity to explore isolated barrier islands where they'll see harbor and grey seals.
