(lows'lē), a slender, curved instrument with flexible blades at its tip, which can be opened or closed by rotation at the proximal end of the tractor; it is passed through the urethra into the bladder and used to retract the prostate gland downward into the operative field in the initial stages of perineal prostatectomy.
