Kosovska Mitrovica

a city in Yugoslavia, in the autonomous province of Kosovo, Socialist Republic of Serbia, on the Ibar River. Population, 42,000 (1971). It is a center for mining (lead and zinc ore; lignite), as well as nonferrous metallurgy (lead and zinc smelting). Other industries include a chemical combine, wood-products and paper enterprises, and the production of mining equipment and agricultural machinery.
