Ngaoundéré
a city in northern Cameroon, in Northern Province. Population, 15,000 (1970). Ngaoundéré is an important commercial and transportation center; it is the northern terminus of the portion of the Trans-Cameroon Railroad that was completed in 1974. The city is the center of a livestock-raising region and has a refrigerated slaughterhouse and a steam power plant. The Minim-Martap bauxite deposit is located 120 km southwest of Ngaoundéré; its general reserves, according to preliminary data, equal 1 billion tons (1970).
