(kôsh-cho͝osh′kō) or Kos·ci·us·ko (kŏs′ē-ŭs′kō, kŏs′kē-), Thaddeus 1746-1817. Polish general and patriot who fought with the colonists in the American Revolution and was a leader in Poland's struggle for independence from Russia.
