Mills, Roger Quarles

(1832–1911) U.S. representative, senator; born in Todd County, Ky. A Confederate Army Colonel, he served in the U.S. House of Representatives (Dem., Texas; 1873–92), chairing the Committee on Ways and Means. He left to fill a vacancy in the Senate (1892–99), retiring to Corsicana, Texas.
