Korgona

a mountain range in the northwestern Altai, in Altai Krai, RSFSR. Length, approximately 100 km; average elevation, 2,200 m; maximum elevation, 2,488 m. The Korgona Range is composed of tuffs and tuffaceous rocks, sandstones, and schists. The slopes are steep and broken up by the deep valleys of the Kumira, Korgona, and other rivers of the Charysh River basin. There are dark coniferous forests with sections of park larches to an elevation of 1,900 m; higher, on the flat peaks, there are subalpine and alpine meadows.
