Lewis and Pickering test Lewis and Pickering test An obsolete test for arterial stenosis in which an extremity is made hyperaemic with warm water, elevated and circumferentially compressed by a sphygmomanometric cuff above the systolic pressure for five minutes; the rapidity with which the limb returns to a normal colour is then measured. Peripheral blood flow and ischaemic potential is now measured by Doppler methods. |
