air barrage

[′er bə′räzh] (mining engineering) An airtight wall dividing a ventilation gallery in a mine into two parts, so that air is led in through one part and out through the other. (ordnance) Bombs dropped in a predetermined pattern from a fleet of aircraft to reduce the effectiveness of ground military personnel and equipment. The shells fired by an antiaircraft battery of guns at attacking airplanes.
