 [le″vo-kahr´nĭ-tēn] a preparation of the biologically active l-isomer of carnitine, used to treat carnitine deficiency, either primary or secondary to an inborn error of metabolism, and to prevent and treat carnitine deficiency associated with hemodialysis in end-stage renal disease; administered orally.
