low-frequency loran low-frequency loran[′lō ‚frē·kwən·sē ′lȯr‚an] (navigation) A modification of standard loran, which operates in the low-frequency range of approximately 100 to 200 kilohertz to increase range over land and during daytime, and which matches cycles rather than envelopes of pulses to obtain a more accurate fix.
