adipose stem cells

adipose stem cells

A population of cells within adipose tissue which retain a high proliferation capacity in vitro and the ability to undergo extensive differentiation, and thus are biologically similar to mesenchymal stem cells derived from the bone marrow. Differentiation results in stem cells adopting the phenotypic, biochemical and functional properties of more terminally differentiated cells along osteogenic, adipogenic, chondrogenic and neurogenic lineages.
