Neslia
Neslia
a genus of annual herbaceous plants of the family Cruciferae. The leaves are entire and generally lanceolate. The radical leaves are petiolate, the cauline leaves are sessile, and the amplexicaul leaves have sagittate bases. The yellow flowers are in racemose inflorescences. The indehiscent fruit is usually a one-seeded spherical silicle. There are two species, distributed in Europe, Asia, and North Africa. Neslia paniculata grows throughout the USSR; N. apiculata is found in the Crimea, the Caucasus, and Middle Asia. Both species are weeds that grow in fields, on garbage heaps, along roads, and on hills. The seeds contain an oil, and the leaves a blue dye.
