Konakovo State Regional Electric Power Plant

Konakovo State Regional Electric Power Plant

one of the largest thermal power stations in the USSR. Located in the city of Konakovo, Kalinin Oblast, RSFSR. It is a part of the Unified Power Grid of the Central Zone. Installed capacity is 2,400 megawatts (2.4 million kilowatts). The plant, which was completed in 1969, was built in two construction stages, each consisting of four power blocks with turbine units rated at 300 megawatts each. The primary fuel is natural gas, and the auxiliary fuel is fuel oil. Circulating water is supplied by a direct-flow system. The electric power is transmitted by transmission lines of 220, 330, and 550 kilovolts and by an experimental industrial line of 750 kilovolts. The power block controls are automated. The plant was awarded the Order of Lenin in 1971.
