Miller Fisher syndrome

Miller Fisher syndrome

A rare, acute variant of Guillain-Barré syndrome, which is characterised by a triad of clinical findings: post-traumatic ataxia, ophthalmoplegia and generalised areflexia; it may be accompanied by myasthenia and respiratory failure. Like Guillain-Barré syndrome, Fisher syndrome is post-viral and generally has a good prognosis, with recovery beginning within weeks of the onset of symptoms.
