Kolli, Aleksandr Andreevich

 

Born 1840 in Moscow; died there Oct. 2 (15), 1916. Russian organic chemist.

Kolli graduated from Moscow University in 1860. From 1876 to 1903 he was a professor at the Moscow Higher Technical School. Kolli was the first to establish the structure of glucose (1869–70) and to synthesize disaccharides from monosaccharides (1879). He also studied the processes of fermentation of sugars.
