Lowen, Alexander

(1910– ) psychiatrist; born in New York City. He studied law at Brooklyn Law School (1934) and received the M.D. from the University of Geneva, Switzerland, in 1951. In 1954 he became executive director of the Institute for Bio-Energetic Analysis in New York City. He wrote extensively on the mind/body relationship, including The Betrayal of the Body (1967) and The Language of the Body (1971).
