Kolesov, Anatolii Ivanovich

 

Born Jan. 18, 1938, in the village of Litvinskoe, in present-day Osakarovka Raion, Karaganda Oblast. Soviet athlete (Greco-Roman wrestling), Honored Master of Sport (1963), teacher, and coach. Became a member of the CPSU in 1964.

Kolesov was Olympic champion (1964, Tokyo), champion of the world (1962, 1963, 1965), and champion of the USSR (1959, 1964). Since 1969 he has been vice-chairman of the Committee on Physical Culture and Sport under the Council of Ministers of the USSR. Kolesov has been awarded two orders and several medals.
