Koiva

a river in Perm’ Oblast, RSFSR; right-bank tributary of the Chusovaia River (Kama basin). Length, 180 km. Basin area, 2,300 sq km. The Koiva flows within the Central Urals. It has a narrow valley with steep slopes and is fed chiefly by snow. The average annual discharge at the village of Fedotovka (65 km from the mouth) is approximately 15 eu m per sec. The river is used for floating timber. The first diamonds in Russia were discovered in the Koiva basin in 1829.
