[kə′hō·teks ‚käm·ət] (astronomy) A comet that was discovered on March 7, 1973, at a distance of 4 astronomical units from the sun, and reached a perihelion of less than 0.1 astronomical unit at the end of 1973. Also known as Comet Kohoutek.
